Holy Week & Easter Worship and Events
Maundy Thursday Blues Service
On Thursday 4/2 at 7pm, Fairhaven will host a special service of Communion. Featuring the music of the blues, we’ll join Jesus in the Upper Room, as he washes his disciples’ feet and shares a meal with them (and us) before he is betrayed.
Good Friday
Good Friday (4/3) is the day Jesus Christ was crucified, a day of hopelessness where no light could be seen. It is important for us to sit in the sorrow of this day—we still live in a dark world, we all experience the pain of sin and death around us.
At noon, you are welcome to join Hill Top UMC and our neighbors at Abiding Missions for a cross procession through the Allentown community and Grandview Park, as we walk and remember the way of the Cross.
In the evening, join us at Spencer UMC at 7:30pm for a service of Tenebrae (“darkness”) as we remember the Passion of our Lord, extinguishing candles as his last breaths draw closer. You are invited to a fish dinner at 6pm before the service. The dinner is free, though we will gratefully accept donations to cover the cost of the meal.
Easter Sunday
Celebrate the risen Christ! Because of his resurrection we are renewed, transformed, and given new life. All three churches will hold services at their usual Sunday times. Come, join us. Whether you’ve been with us a thousand times or it’s your first time with us (or your very first time in church!), all are welcome to worship.
